Developed to exist side-by-side, and to play simultaneously or one at a time, The Future is a two-part short-film series released in 2021 that considers the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the looming threat of climate change.

Modeled after the viewfinder of a 1976 Minolta XL-660 Sound 8mm camera, manufactured in Japan, the film features audio from various individuals – including family members and advocates for/against climate change.

The films hybridize two genres – home videos and environmental activism media – in order to address issues of time, family, loss, hope, anger, and apprehension.
